Nearly 25,000 residences in southeastern Queensland woke up lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events passed over the state, generating strong winds hitting 109km/h.

Massive Hailstones and Extensive Damage

Residents witnessed large ice chunks measuring up to 7cm in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that multiple regions across Queensland had been hit with significant hail.

Utility workers were working to restore energy supply throughout the affected regions, with dozens of response units deployed to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.

Victoria's Storm Challenges

Meanwhile, approximately one thousand households in Victoria also encountered energy failures after the metropolitan area experienced its most precipitation in a year and a half.

Emergency response teams received nearly 600 emergency reports across the state, mainly for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

At one point on yesterday, more than 28,000 energy customers in Victoria were lacking electricity.

Climate Outlook

Moist weather were forecast to persist along significant areas of Queensland's east this coming days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the shoreline.

The following day was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent severe weather risk expected across multiple regions of both states.

Health Warning

Medical authorities cautioned that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, specifically given the existing atmospheric conditions.

This warning comes after past events where similar conditions led to major medical consequences in the state.
